– Support end-to-end project control activities, including project setup, planning, budgeting, scheduling, cost tracking, forecasting, and performance reporting.

– Monitor project budgets, commitments, actual costs, forecasts, cash flow, margins, work in progress (WIP), and schedule performance; proactively identify variances and coordinate corrective actions with Project Managers and leadership.

– Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers to maintain project schedules, track milestones, update forecasts, and prepare dashboards and reports for internal stakeholders and senior leadership.

– Support project purchasing and procurement activities, including preparation and tracking of purchase orders, vendor documentation, commitments, and invoice reconciliation.

– Coordinate with Finance and Project Managers on vendor invoices, payment status, cost coding, and resolution of invoice discrepancies.

– Assist with the preparation and submission of project invoices, manage billing cycles and expenditure tracking, and support accounts receivable activities, including monitoring outstanding invoices and coordinating client follow-up on overdue payments.

– Contribute to financial month-end and year-end processes, including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting for active projects.

– Support government funding and grant administration, including expenditure tracking, financial claims, forecasts, supporting documentation, and reporting requirements.

– Participate in process improvement initiatives related to project controls and reporting workflows.

– Assist with audit preparation and respond to internal and external audit requests as needed.

– Administrative tasks associated with accounting and project controls.

– Other duties as assigned.

– Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

– 1-3 years of experience in project controls, project accounting, cost engineering, or financial/project analysis, ideally in a project-based or energy/infrastructure environment;

– Experience supporting government- or grant-funded projects is an asset.

– CPA designation (or in progress) is an asset.

– Familiarity with project scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project), ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Dynamics), reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI), QuickBooks Online, Dext, ApprovalMax, timekeeping/project management systems is strongly preferred.

– Working knowledge of basic AI productivity tools is an asset.

– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.

– Solid understanding of project control principles, including earned value management, cash flow forecasting, and variance analysis.

– Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

– Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

– Act as Engineer of Record for electrical designs and technical deliverables; review, sign, and seal drawings, specifications, and reports as required.

– Lead and/or execute photovoltaic (PV) and BESS electrical design, including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams (where applicable), protection concepts, control interfaces, and equipment specifications.

– Develop engineering packages for microgrids, including interconnection design, distribution architecture, and operating modes (grid-tied, islanded, black start if applicable).

– Coordinate with EPCs, utilities, owners, and Indigenous/community stakeholders; support technical discussions, design reviews, and approvals.

– Perform and/or oversee power system studies as needed (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, protection coordination, harmonics) and integrate results into design.

– Perform and/or oversee grounding and bonding design and studies for renewable and microgrid installations.

– Support procurement by preparing technical specifications, evaluating vendor submittals, and responding to RFIs.

– Provide construction-phase engineering support, including field reviews, change management, and commissioning support.

– Ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards (Canadian Electrical Code, utility requirements, relevant CSA/IEEE standards), and internal QA/QC processes.

– Mentor junior team members and contribute to improving internal design standards, templates, and workflows.

– Minimum 3 years of overall engineering experience

– At least 2 years of experience in electrical utility work (required)

– At least 2 years of experience in distribution design (required)

– Active EIT registration with APEGA or APEGS, or able to transfer their experience

– A working foundation you can build on

– Experience in asset management, maintenance, planning and design of substation and transmission is considered an asset.

– Experience in renewable power, protection and control, microgrids and energy storage is considered an asset.

– Power/fault flow modelling software and powerline design software are considered an asset.

– Willing to challenge convention. Distribution design carries a lot of “that’s how it’s always been done.” We want someone who still asks if there’s a smarter, more cost-effective, or better way to serve the client.

– Someone who owns problems rather than passing them along.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday – 40 hours per week.
