Integrated Energy Audit

What is IEA?

An Integrated Energy Audit (IEA) helps customers identify and assess energy management opportunities, focus on areas where operating energy costs can be better managed and reduced, address demand side load management and capacity needs, and low carbon electrification opportunities.

The audit can explore a wide range of opportunities related to:

Energy Efficiency (EE): Optimize the energy use in customer sites and facilities, reduce energy consumption, and peak demand.

Low Carbon Electrification (LCE): Switch from fossil fuels to clean electricity and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Demand Response (DR): Reduce or shift energy use on the customer side, during specified dates and times, to provide flexible demand.

Distributed Generation (DG): Power generation on customer-side of Point of Interconnection (POI) from clean and renewable sources, that is consumed solely within the customer site. Power generation systems can have associated energy storage means, for better demand management.

Eligibility for Funding

The IEA offer is open to all industrial and large commercial customers of BC Hydro. Note that to qualify for this offer, large commercial customers should have a company-wide minimum annual electricity consumption of 2 GWh/yr.

Funding Offer

The IEA is fully funded by BC Hydro. Audit costs are expected to range between $5,000 and $50,000 per site. The amount is determined by multiple factors, including the customer’s annual electricity consumption, facility size, and the SoW for the audit.
